We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer (MEP) to support the design and coordination of mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, and/or industrial building projects. This role focuses on the design of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical building systems from concept through construction.
The ideal candidate will work closely with electrical, plumbing, architectural, and structural teams to develop efficient, code-compliant, and sustainable building system designs. This position offers strong growth potential and hands-on exposure to all phases of the design and construction process.
Key Responsibilities
- Design HVAC systems including load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork, and piping layouts
- Assist in the design of plumbing and mechanical piping systems
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations using industry software
- Coordinate mechanical designs with other disciplines to ensure integrated building systems
- Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design intent
- Conduct site visits to support construction administration and field coordination
- Ensure designs comply with local building codes, energy codes, and industry standards (ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, etc.)
- Support energy-efficient and sustainable design strategies
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred but not required
- Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a plus
Experience
- 0–5+ years of experience in MEP or building systems design
- Experience working on commercial, healthcare, education, or multi-family projects preferred
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD required
- Experience with HVAC load calculation software (TRACE, HAP, or similar)
- Understanding of duct and pipe sizing, equipment selection, and system layouts
- Familiarity with building energy codes and standards (ASHRAE, IECC)
- Knowledge of construction documents and specifications
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality design
